I am home sick from work today.  A lot of stresses, both personally and professionally, have given me a terrible stomache ache.  I hate this.  I am working on ways to change all those stressors.  Some things I can’t control, but what I can is spending more time doing things I love.

I was sitting on the couch today, in a bit of pain, thinking of all the things around me.  I don’t often spend time just looking around the apartment.  The cats, the overstuffed couch, the cluttered, messy place that we call home.  The fish were all happy in their tanks, and I really started to gain an appreciation for what I have.  I don’t often do that, and it was nice to “see the forest through the trees”.  So, I guess being sick, despite causing a ton of stress and guilt over missing work, was a good thing today.

This time of year especially, it’s time to concentrate on things at home.  I spent a lot of the beginning part of this year travelling and not doing much around the house.  All of my projects were on hold.  Lately, though, the weather has gotten a bit more chilly and being home is something I enjoy a lot.  I am going to spend more time with my baking, taking pictures, playing music, and all that other stuff I enjoy so much and forget about from time to time.

The next couple weeks, I will be posting about coffee a bit.  I’m going to experiment with French Press, and hope to be roasting my own beans soon.  I inherited a broken down french press from my old roommate that is missing parts.  I will play with that a little before buying a new one.

All in all, it’s good to be back in the mood to settle down at home.  This is my favorite part of the year and I’m going to enjoy blogging about some of it.

  • BlogNotes: new mobile interface

If you look at the blog via a mobile device (Blackberry, iPhone, Treo, &tc.), you’ll see a new interface that is streamline specifically for that medium.  Pretty cool.

  • WordPress 2.6 upgrade notes

I’ve successfully completed the upgrade to WordPress 2.6.  It was very easy, and the instructions provided worked just fine for my site.  I use GoDaddy to host the site, and use CoreFTP to manage the uploads.

The only issue of note is that I was no longer able to login as ‘admin’ after the upgrade.  I Googled the issue and it ends up all I had to do was clear my Firefox cache.

All set.  Now, time to play with some of the new features!  Any suggestions?

  • Sunday Morning Banality

I’m trying to fill the blog up with posts in order to test out features and how I want things to look and feel. I’m trying to find a way to ONLY view particular categories based on user preferences. Unfortunately, I know no real PHP or CSS and may have to pick up a couple books. Anyone have recommendations?

In other news, Superbad was watched last night after I fell asleep.

This morning, upon picking up the Boston Sunday Globe at my local package store, I glanced at the ads and saw the Panisonic stereo I want to buy at Circuit City for $300 (plus tax), and also that Best Buy has the printer I bought two weeks ago for $40 off. I’m taking a trip to Best Buy this afternoon to try to get the $40 back.
