{"id":86,"date":"2015-03-14T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-03-14T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/feedmittens.com\/fmblog\/famous-new-haven-pizza-coming-to-boston-finally\/"},"modified":"2015-03-14T12:00:00","modified_gmt":"2015-03-14T12:00:00","slug":"famous-new-haven-pizza-coming-to-boston-finally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/feedmittens.com\/fmblog\/famous-new-haven-pizza-coming-to-boston-finally\/","title":{"rendered":"Famous New Haven pizza coming to Boston, finally!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150521035420\/http:\/\/www.pepespizzeria.com\/\">Frank Pepe\u2019s<\/a><\/strong>, probably the most famous pizza north of NYC and south of Boston, <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150521035420\/http:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/business\/2015\/03\/13\/pepe-pizzeria-coming-chestnut-hill\/ZSe7PyxlRQTPNko3zn6C9O\/story.html\"><strong>is finally coming to Boston<\/strong><\/a>. \u00c2\u00a0They were <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150521035420\/http:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/lifestyle\/food-dining\/2014\/09\/18\/the-fireplace-stay-brookline-home-pepe-pizzeria-won-move\/Bz2r5AdCR9jI1dNMH3eVkM\/story.html\">supposed to take over the Fireplace in Brookline<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0last year but that deal was scuttled last year when Fireplace decided to stay put. \u00c2\u00a0This time, it looks like they\u2019re taking the old Papa Razi space in the newly fancified\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150521035420\/http:\/\/www.simon.com\/mall\/the-mall-at-chestnut-hill\">Chestnut Hill Mall.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t know their pizza, think of a thin crust made in a really hot oven. \u00c2\u00a0Not NYC style, though. \u00c2\u00a0I don\u2019t think they are <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150521035420\/http:\/\/americas.pizzanapoletana.org\/getcertifed.php\">DOP certified<\/a> but mostly I\u2019d consider them a Neapolitan style pizza joint.<\/p>\n<p>I went there once a few years ago after returning from a <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150521035420\/http:\/\/www.ncl.com\/port\/new-york\/cruises\">cruise out of New York<\/a> while on the way back to Boston. \u00c2\u00a0It isn\u2019t a far trip off the highway if you\u2019re in the area, and you can also get a chance to visit their arch rival, <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150521035420\/http:\/\/sallysapizza.com\/\">Sally\u2019s.<\/a> \u00c2\u00a0There are lines out the door a lot of the time, but the pizza is worth the wait. \u00c2\u00a0Also, their sauce is pretty unique. \u00c2\u00a0I wish I could find the pics we took while there!<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I\u2019m happy that they are going to be coming to Boston and I hope they find a good home in Chestnut Hill. \u00c2\u00a0Like all of these things, I\u2019ll believe it when I see it. \u00c2\u00a0This makes me very happy as this kind of pizza is my absolute favorite. \u00c2\u00a0We had a small taste of it while in Rome two years ago and I\u2019d love to travel back over to Naples and get some real time with their pizza. \u00c2\u00a0Peter Reinhart did a great bit on this in <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150521035420\/http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/1580084222\/?tag=feedmittens-20\">American Pie, a highly recommended book<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" height=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150521035420im_\/http:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=feedmittens-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=1580084222\" style=\"border: none !important;
