I had the time to re-vsit Ruby’s yesterday on Rt. 1 in Maine. This was a Friday afternoon visit with my daughter. She was cold from being in the ocean (York Beach is awesome and so is the arcade there!) so we requested to sit at one of the outside tables. So one positive: The AC in both the main room(s) and the bar out back is nice and chilly in the summer!
We were the only ones to sit at the outdoor tables, and the day server was nice enough to keep coming out to get our order/drinks, etc., despite having lots to do inside. This is another positive.
Negatives: The food. This visit, something was different. The wings, though prepared as they always do, were really dry. And the pizza came out very late and was very undercooked. I don’t know if they were just warming up the oven for the day or something else, but the dough was practically uncooked and the toppings were barely touched.
This will NOT prevent me from returning, as we love Ruby’s and have been going there for ~20 years, but I was just disappointed this visit. It was a gorgeous afternoon out and was great to spend it with my kid at the restaurant, though.
p.s. The kid loved her fries (they have really good hand-cut-looking fries) and her cheese pizza slices – so yet another positive!
p.p.s. Use the Guest_Front wifi not the Guest wifi and the signal will be better. Ruby’s is in a spot with spotty cell coverage.
